Students walked the recreated decks, explored artifacts, and stepped into the stories of real passengers and crew aboard the “Ship of Dreams.”
From stepping into a lifeboat to reading original Marconi messages, our students engaged deeply with one of history’s most powerful moments. Exhibits like this bring history to life helping students understand not just what happened, but what it meant to the people who lived it.
A huge thank-you to Union Station KC for creating such a moving educational experience!

We're so proud of our National Honor Society / SAFE Team for their incredible "Booster to Belts" program at Madison Elementary School! Our high school leaders taught Kindergarten through 3rd graders about car seat, booster seat, and seat belt safety through fun, interactive lessons. This service learning project promotes positive youth development and strong civic engagement by empowering our students to be safety advocates. By providing resources to parents, this initiative also strengthens family and community partnerships. It was wonderful to see our students serving as fantastic role models, educating the younger generation on crucial, life-saving habits! #BoosterToBelts #ChildSafety #CommunityService #NHS #SAFETEAM #StudentLeaders #KansasSchools

A huge thank you to Keila Sherman from the Greenwood County Conservation District for bringing the Earth Balloon Presentation to our sixth grade students.
Our students absolutely loved the experience of stepping inside the Earth and learning about soil and water conservation in such an interactive and engaging way that made science come alive!
Special thanks to the partnership of KAWS Kansas Alliance, Wetlands Stream, and the Toronto Fall River WRAPS for student supplies and materials donated for this lesson.
We appreciate your dedication to conservation education and for giving the students a learning opportunity that they will not soon forget.

Our classroom looked a little different today and that was the point.
To help students understand the realities of the Industrial Revolution, we transformed our room into an immersive learning space. With the heat turned up, the lights turned down, earthy scents in the air, and the sounds of mills, mines, and factory floors echoing around them, students explored primary sources just as workers of the era lived: in conditions that were crowded, hot, and loud.
Students analyzed documents, compared experiences, asked big questions, and connected past working conditions to the labor rights and protections we have today. Instead of simply reading about history, they stepped into it — and their curiosity, empathy, and engagement showed.
Proud of the way they embraced the challenge and brought real meaning to today’s lesson.

Our 3rd grade students are hard at work this morning constructing models of traditional Indigenous homes!
They’ve been learning about the diverse Native Nations across North America and how geography, climate, and natural resources influence the types of homes communities build. Next week, students will learn about Pilgrims adapted to life in the New World.

Today, our high school held its 11th annual Veterans Day Assembly, organized by our Student Council. It was a tremendous success in meeting important community and educational goals!
We were privileged to welcome local veterans who shared their powerful, firsthand stories of service and sacrifice. This vital intergenerational connection bridged textbook history with real-world experiences, instilling a deep sense of patriotism and civic responsibility in our students.
This event was a showcase of leadership! Our Student Council members developed invaluable skills in event planning, public speaking, and community outreach, demonstrating their commitment to honoring our nation's heroes.
By listening to the complexities of service, students cultivated greater empathy and respect for the diverse experiences of our veterans.
Thank you to every veteran who attended and to our incredible Student Council for hosting this impactful event. The spirit of service is alive and well!
