Science Fair 2015 Winners

The 3rd Annual 8th Grade Science Fair was held on February 12. The students have been working hard all year long to research, design and execute the project of their choice. There were so many great projects, and it was a close race to the top. J The 8th grade class would like to thank their peers, community members and guest judges for coming to see all of their hard work! Winners of the Fair are as follows:

·         1st Place: Emily Farrow, with a project entitled, “Bacteria Be Gone”

o   Emily investigated the antibacterial affects of cinnamon and peppermint products on bacteria in the mouth.

·         2nd Place: Hannah Ballard, with a project entitled, “Birth Order Affect on Seniors’ Plans”

o   Hannah surveyed seniors in the LCL about their plans after high school to determine how birth order influences their post-secondary goals.

·         3rd Place: Sydney Talkington, with a project entitled, “Let it Grow”

o   Sydney investigated the time it takes white vs. wheat bread to mold.

·         Honorable Mention: Duke Beyer, with a project entitled, “Magnetic Metals”

o   Duke investigated the magnetic properties of various materials to determine if it was magnetic, diamagnetic or antimagnetic.
