National Festival of Breads Contest Winners!

In November the High School Food Science class toured the Kansas Wheat Commission facility located in Manhattan, KS.  During that trip they observed the test kitchen for the National Festival of Breads contest and learned of the opportunity to enter a youth contest by submitting original recipes.


During December, food science students worked on researching recipes online and creating original recipes with ingredients that they enjoyed.  The process led them through research, planning, testing in the foods lab, as well as drafting, editing, and submitting their original recipes online to the National Festival of Breads in January.  


Just last week we were notified that some of our own Madison Bulldogs are the recipients of distinguished National awards.


Honorable mentions in the Youth Division are:

  • Hannah Luthi - Peppermint Chocolate Muffins

  • Apryl Salendar & Josie Branstetter - Almond Delight Braid


The National Youth Division Winner and Soy Ingredient Winner:

  • Michael Favor - French Vanilla Donuts


All of these students will be formally recognized at the National Festival of Breads Event on June 17 in Manhattan, KS with awards.  Michael will receive a cash award for his top entry.
