It is hard to believe it, but we are nearing the end of the year already.  The spring time is filled with a lot of extracurricular events, awards nights, and graduations.  Please do not forget to check the school website at for updates and information.

Each year we say goodbye to a group of seniors and a short time later, we are gearing up and getting to get ready to do it all again the next year.  This year we will not only be saying goodbye to a group of seniors, but also to two long time staff members as well.  Donita Barnard and Pat Wine have worked for USD #386 Madison-Virgil 13 years and 42 years respectively.  Pat started teaching here as Patricia Peterson on December 18, 1972.  She then married Sam Wine on June 2, 1973 and became Mrs. Wine.  Donita started at the high school as a clerical/teacher aide on August 1, 2000.  Through the years, both have impacted a number of student lives in a variety of ways.  It is hard if not impossible to put into words, the impact they have had on USD #386.  Their impact on students will be felt for years to come.  They will be greatly missed, but we wish them both the best as they enter into the next phase of their lives.

Our students recently completed the 5th Annual Community Service Day.  PreK-12th grade students completed a variety of activities throughout the community including trash pick-up, working at the food pantry, cleaning out the depot, and much more.  I was very proud of the effort of our students and staff.  Additionally, I would like to thank Bob Robinson, Mary Myers, the City of Madison, and Madison Telephone for helping to make this day a success.

Have a good week and remember, “It’s A Great Day to Be a Bulldog!”
