Family & Consumer Science students hosted a fall family fun food and fitness event on Tuesday, October 20 at the DeWitt Family Stadium Complex.  The evening was beautiful with clear skies and warm air.  There were 37 families who registered that evening, which added up to over 100 people in attendance.  Stations included the Madison Fire Department with their fire trucks, Golf chipping range, cinnamon roll smoothies, homemade hummus dip and carrot sticks, hydration station with water bottles, Zumba exercise dance, golf putting, balancing boards, bean bag toss, archery, disc golf, walking and jogging lanes, and croquet.

Many thanks to the 40 junior high and high school students who volunteered their time to help set up, work, and tear down during the event.  Faculty members that gave of their time for the evening included Rita Osborn, Dale Wolgram, and Hannah Prophet.  Community members who volunteered their time for the evening were Tim Melton and Nathan Knobloch -volunteer fire fighters, Jon Larkin- golf expert, Marcus Erkel – PGA member from Emporia, and Kaleb Schankie with Bloodline Outdoors & KNS Outfitters.

The highlight of the evening featured a drawing for prizes.  Prizes given to the lucky families whose names were drawn were: 2 pumpkins to decorate, a family pass to Rollers Skating rink, 3 family day passes to the Madison Golf Course,  disc golf set with putter, driver, midrange, and cadet bag, a bag of 10 golf balls, Ninja express food chopper, Go Gater! Go anywhere portable disc golf game, and a Delta Arrowstop foam archery target with 3 practice point arrows

We extend much gratitude to the people and businesses who donated prizes for the evening.  We would like to thank Madison Golf Club – general manager Gary Kile, Walmart of Emporia, Bluestem Farm & Ranch Supply, and Dynamic Discs Company of Emporia.
