Parents are encouraged to make arrangements with a relative or other trusted individual to care for their children in the event school is canceled or dismissed early and to discuss those arrangements with their children.

Parents need to make sure their children are dressed appropriately, so that if a bus should become stalled the children would have adequate clothing for the extreme weather conditions.

USD #386 is spread over 253 square miles.  Considerable variation often occurs in the road conditions throughout the district.  Parents can assist by notifying of their child’s bus driver if road conditions in their specific area will not allow the bus to safely pick up or deliver their child.

Parents need to observe the road conditions in their area along the route to school, and them make the final determination as to whether their child has adequate experience to drive to and from school safely under the road conditions that are expected for the day.
